Holy Week Respite

To get to the core of GOD at his greatest, one must first get into the core of himself at his least. Acknowledgeing our weaknesses brings us closer to God who loves us completely. Picture this: God holds us each by a string, Sin and get our of line, we cust the string. God though ties it up again, making a knot. Each time our wrong doing cuts the string. God ties another Knot, drawing us closer to him.

He causes the changes of the times and seasons, makes kings and unmakes them. He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who understand. Daniel: 2:21

Teach me, O Lord, to be sweet and gentle In all the events of life; in Disappointments, in the thoughtlessness Of others, in the insincerity of those I trusted, in the unfaithfulness of those on whom I relied. Teach me to profit by the Suffering that comes across my path.

May no one be less good for having Come within my influence; no one less Pure, less true, less kind, less noble for having been a fellow-traveler in our Journey toward Eternal Life.

A Prayer

Give me a good digestion Lord and also something to digest. Give me a healthy body Lord, with a sense to keep it at its best. Give me a healthy mind, good Lord, to keep the good and pure in sight which seeing sin is not appalled, but finds a way to set it right. Give me a mind that is not bored, that does not whimper, whine or sigh. Don’t let me worry overmuch about the fussy thing called I. Give me a sense of humor, Lord, give me the grace to see a joke. To get some happiness from life, and pass it on to other folk.

God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can and wisdom to know the difference Living one day at a time enjoying one moment at a time accepting hardships as the pathway to peace; taking as He did, the world as it is, not as I would have it; trusting that He will make all things right if I surrender to His will; that I may be reasonably happy in this life and supremely happy with Him forever

O’God, the Creator of all things, You framed the law of labor for the Human Race. Dear God may we do the work you provide us and earn the reward you promise. Gracious Heavenly Father, as the United States pauses to contemplate the freedom to work and the employment opportunities that are available to most of us but these days so many of us are out of work and we the unemployed beseech your help for meaningful work. Still it will because of your grace and favor that we are and will be able to work. Thank you God, for the blessings of employment and work that we have had in the past and the present. May all that I do at work give glory to you.

Born amid the first flames of America’s fight for freedom, “Old Glory” has been waving o’re the land of the free and the home of the brave since June 14, 1777, one of the oldest national symbols still flying. Dear God, let her always be this honorable light. We plead that you come back into our lives and culture restoring common sense and nobility.

From The Book Of Sirach:

• A kind mouth multiplies friends, and gracious lips prompt friendly greetings.
• Faithful friend is sturdy shelter; he who finds one is a treasure.
• A faithful friend is beyond price, No sum can balance his worth.
• A faithful friend is a life-saving remedy, such as he who fears God finds; for he who fears and reverences God behaves accordingly, and his friends will be like him.

Slow Me Down Lord

Slow me down Lord,
I'm going too fast
I can't tell a friend
When he's going past
I can't tell a blessing
When it's coming my way
Slow me down Lord
For another day.

Lord, Thank you for the gift of HOPE
You gave us on Easter morning.
Because of you we know
That no problem is too difficult
And even death does not have power over us.
Thank you for the gift of JOY
You gave us when you were resurrected.
Because of you we know
That no matter how challenging life may be,
In the end we will rejoice again.
Thank you for this gift of LOVE.
- Amen
